Our polycrystalline diamond (PCD) is a high-performance superhard composite material produced by sintering diamond micropowder under high temperature and pressure. It uses cemented carbide as a support substrate, with a diamond layer thickness typically ranging from 0.5 to 3.0 mm. The grains exhibit random orientation and isotropy, combining ultra-high hardness, excellent thermal properties, and reliable structural strength, making it a core material in the field of high-end precision cutting. Its microhardness reaches 80–110 GPa (approximately 8000 HV), which is 8–12 times that of cemented carbide; its thermal conductivity is as high as 700 W/(m·K), with heat dissipation efficiency far exceeding that of conventional tool materials, enabling rapid reduction of cutting edge temperature; its coefficient of friction is only 0.1–0.3, significantly reducing cutting forces and suppressing built-up edge formation; With a thermal expansion coefficient of 0.9×10⁻⁶–1.18×10⁻⁶/°C, it exhibits minimal thermal deformation and outstanding dimensional stability; its thermal stability allows for continuous cutting at temperatures above 700°C, maintaining stable hardness and edge integrity even at high temperatures, with wear resistance and service life far exceeding those of traditional cemented carbide. PCD cutting speeds can reach 300–1000 m/min, with feed rates of 0.05–0.5 mm/r and a maximum cutting depth of 10 mm. It delivers high surface finish and uniform texture, excellent dimensional accuracy of the cutting edge, and optimized control of chip morphology, maintaining sharpness and machining consistency even during long-term use. This material is suitable for difficult-to-machine materials such as ceramic thin films, precision molds, electronic and nanomaterials, graphite, silicon-based materials, polymer composites, non-ferrous metals, and alloys. It is widely used in high-end manufacturing applications such as precision medical devices, precision cutting of jewelry, integrated circuit and chip processing, optoelectronic and biomaterial electronic devices, high-precision aerospace components, critical rail transit parts, and R&D of special materials and precision drilling. It reliably delivers ultra-precise cutting and forming with high efficiency, consistency, and reliability, making it a key core material that underpins the advancement of high-end manufacturing, breakthroughs in precision machining, and the development of the new materials industry.
